I really wanted to like this Toshiba Canvio drive, a very small USB powered package that stores two terabytes of data. For such a small device, that is amazing. While its design, a simple plastic box, is uninspired and while its matte finish appears dull, its promised features were compelling.Unfortunately, I had to exchange the first drive I received because its USB 3.0 cable connection was so temperamental, the slightest movement would disconnect the drive.The second drive I received solved this problem but suffered its own set of issues. After every three to four uses, the drive would automatically convert itself to write protected - making it impossible to add new files.The only way to repair the drive involved running the Windows command CHKDSK (Check Disk). In specific, I had to open up a command window and issue the line command of:CHKDSK K: /FWhere K: refers to the drive letter that Windows assigned to my drive. After running the CHKDSK program, no errors were reported but the drive's write protected status was eliminated - allowing me to fully use the drive again.In conclusion, this Toshiba product appears to suffer significant design and manufacturing problems. Sadly, I don't recommend it.
