What’s unique about this product vs any other external hard drive is that all of your OS (operating system) and program files are “duplicated” in addition to your data files making this a complete backup solution which is bootable. Why is being bootable so important? Because if/when your hard drive fails and you insert your duplicate copy hard drive you don’t miss a beat. Your computer will start up and all of your program files including the OSF (operating system files) will be restored along with your outlook contacts and personal settings.

Excellent product. Really. Just snap one drive in the top, then the other. Hit one button and your are duplicating (bit-for-bit).THis comes in handy when you want to CLONE your hard disk. I cloned my operating system drive. When my other HD crashed, I just snapped this in and "presto" windows 7 nor my laptop could tell the difference.For those that don't know, if you try to ever use another harddrive, you'll have to reinstall windows, re-activate windows (which means talking to india for 10 hours with no success). If you can clone your drive, all is well.When you're not duplicating, you can plug it in USB and use it as a data backup drive. Very cool.If I could add one feature, it would be to give it a e-sata plugin so you could transfer data even faster (since all the newer laptops have this now).Also recommend getting the exact same hard drive or at least the exact same size. Has to be same or larger, but it just makes things smoother.Good product... Well done!

For this or any bit for bit duplicator you will get a drive size for the destination that exactly matches your sourse drive. Think - you are doing a bit copy - how do you expect the destination to be duplicated if not EXACTLY! The answer since Partition Magic is no longer is to search for EaseUS and download their free partition software. It is quite easy to use (graphical interface - just use the sliders). I have a different duplicator used to copy a 250GB laptop to a 500GB laptop hard drive. End result - a brand new 250GB drive - oh horrors! I thought I could just partition the extra space and make a drive "D". No - the operting system would not let me because of the existing hidden partition for "recovery". So using the free EaseUS partition software I was able to move the recovery partion to the end of the drive and extend the current drive "C" partion. Hope this helps some of you. No I don't work for EaseUS or anyone else that matters for this review.

Purchased this product and tried to copy a 2tb drive to a 3tb drive and all data was erased. Called manufacturer and tech support informed me that the device is not compatible with 3tb drives!! Well thanks for putting that very important bit of information on the box or in the instruction manual!!
