I have several other type's of external drives that suck in one way or the other but this one, it actually works! The transfer rate doesn't slow down to a crawl when copying files to it, it doesn't shut down in the middle of a transfer or shut down and disappear, it doesn't need to make several partitions with a drive larger than 2TB.What it does do, it just works the way its supposed to. I will be laying the other external enclosures to rest over the next few weeks and will be replacing them with this unit.

This is a pretty straightforward HD accessory. I used a 500GB Hitachi drive. Remove two srews on the back and then slide the caddy out the front. One thing that takes a second or two to notice is that, to install the drive you need to insert it at a slight angle and sort of shovel the connector inside the tray into the HD power and dat port. If you just try to lay it in the caddy and slide the drive onto the connector it appears that the connector sits too low. This is shown on the installation diagram on the package as a curved arrow. Other than that it's built well. There is no fan or cooling mechanism. The Power Adapter cable is quite short so keep that in mind. I think this was a good value.

A little odd to load and re-close, but nothing difficult... No technical issues at all. Very well made, stable stance, and seems durable. Would buy another if I need another external USB 3.0 case.
