The good:1. The rubber portions will protect the drive from high G's when dropped.2. Capacity is hight and size is ok (a bit wider than most 2.5 external drives, but that's due to the extra protection.3. USB 3 cable provided is sturdyThe bad:1. Extremely slow for USB 3, even slower than most other 5400 rpb 2.5 drives. Copying a 500 GB mix of files of all sizes (from 8GB to 4kb files, modelling daily usage) I got an average of 21 MB/sec write transfer rate. Most other drives in this category manage at least 33 MB/sec. The read performance is slow too at an average of 35MB/sec vs other drives that manage up to 60MB/sec. (In case you are wondering, all the maufacturer supplied numbers are absolute max performance numbers and don't reflect real usage). FYI the drive was formatted FAT32 originally but I had formatted it to NTFS before using it, and it was operating on USB3 on a Pro Gamer Machine.) I am having a hard time understanding why people would want to buy this product: it clearly is ruggedized for everyday usage, but people want fast transfers for everyday usage, and any other drive would serve just as well for backups that are normally stored safely and don't need to be ruggedized!2. The rubber portions are only glued on in 3 or 4 spots on top of a very thin plastic casing underneath. very disappointed at the laziness in manufacturing.3. The USB3 cable is quiet loose when connecting to the drive AND the PC. Tested with my laptop too, and the issue is with the cable and not my PC USB3 Ports.Conclusion:If you want a backup drive with about 930 MB of capacity (formatted) that could withstand a few bumps, but don't mind very slow transfer rates (at least for USB3) or some manufacturing laziness, you are good. If you are looking for something with the build quality of the ADATA Superior SH93 (from the same manufacturer) or the LaCie Rugged drives this is not your drive though. Also, the supplied cable is really short, so if you don't have a USB3 Hub or need to place the drive more than 5 inches away, try a different product.Rig info for Reference: Asrock Extreme 4 MB with a Core i7 2700K Sandybridge overclocked to 4.5 GHz

This is a sturdy piece of gear, compact and works great. It's fast, no power supply and tough as nails. I would not bounce it like the milspec testers, but I feel better about all those attractive young women being safe inside.

It is not a quality USB 3.It is rugged though I have yet to check water resistance quality.I enjoy the design.The covering is snug, I do not agree with some of these other reviews as for the quality.ProsRugged, design, cord accessible, size, weight, capacity, and sound of mind.ConsUSB 3 is slow. I didn't buy it for that though.I purchased with an understanding it would have a slow transfer/download/upload rate.It is slow.Bottom linIf you want speed this isn't it. If you want something you don't have to worrie about dropping or throwing in the back seat of your car or dropping.Then this will do great.
