Are you kidding? Way to much negativity concerning these drives.Let me tell you, I had 8 of these drives (5 were for each individual business day M,T,W,Th,F) and as far as reliability and ruggedness,...these F-ing rock! For the past 3 1/2 years I have had to take a drive home with me to keep as a backup for the previous day's work. Just in case of fire, I ALWAYS had one outside the building, whether it be at home or in the truck,...in the parking lot!!! Yep, even in the hot days of the Florida summer.Anyways, I cannot begin to pinpoint how many times I have dropped these suckers. Let's not forget each time they managed to slide off the seat on account of my driving habits and were unknowingly laying between the seat and the door,...and not realizing where they were, they'd come crashing to the ground as I opened the door. Sure,...they were all scuffed and dented here and there,...I mean,...people,..we're talking 3 1/2 years, EVERY day, minus weekends,.....that's a lot of days of punishment!!!! C'mon,...I dare anyone to challenge that! And these were drives that held our company client directory and documents. We're a law firm for Christ's sake!So, my point being, that if you have had ANY sort of mishap, then I have to believe, other than actually getting a defective unit, which CAN happen, from time to time,.........then it must be the user doesn't know how to install or use the drive. And it's a no-brainer,...virtually, plug-n-play, unless you want to install the included software,...which you do NOT need to do.As a side note,...the drive is quiet and reliable. After awhile, you'll forget it's even there.Oh,..and by the way, as I previously stated, that I have had to use these drives for 3 1/2 years, well,...that's NOT including the additional 3 years that the business has been open. I believe these were the same drives that were originally installed to be used for backing up our server. We have 3 offices now,...and they all use these, WITHOUT incident. So, these devices are actually working on what I believe is their 7th year.Sounds like a winner to me!!!!

According to the other reviews they had bad experiences with the hard drive. My experience however was and still is very good with this hard drive. I got the hard drive year before last on Black Friday for $70. And I has work flawlessly ever since. So that is why I guess Im just lucky, maybe you will be lucky to :)

Feels cheap.Doesn't last.Go figure.I used this as a backup drive, meaning it sat idle all day and then ran for a few minutes each night to perform a backup of whatever had changed on my other drives. It sat on a shelf, undisturbed in pretty much optimal conditions. I got 2 years out of it, and then it died. Maybe 2 years is acceptable, but I'm used to getting far longer out of hard drives. In fact, the drives it was backing up are much older than it is (was, really, since it's dead).
