When I bought this drive I was expecting it to be speedy but this drive is the fastest USB 3.0 drive I've ever heard of. It literally transfers my games at 3-400mbps. And for small 4k transfers it's as good as an internal SSD. Because it is an SSD. It's actually the Crucial m4 128GB wrapped up in this beautiful LaCie Porsche package. I was wondering why this thing was so fast and then I found out it has an m4 in it. Being that it's USB 3.0 and not connected to a SATAIII port you do loose about 25% of the performance as far as large files go but like I said, I'm getting 3-400mbps.I used to have a Super Talent Express RC8, which is one of the fastest, if not THE fasted USB 3.0 thumb drive on the market. And I used to get 150mbps with it transferring games and other stuff. But this LaCie just blows it out of the water. And for the price, you just can't get any better than this.For those thinking of getting portable storage, don't get anything else. Definitely don't get a HDD unless you absolutely must have 500GB or more. 128GB is plenty. If you need to transfer more data just make 2-3 trips as it's still way fast than an HDD.They say this drive is for laptops but I use it for my 2 desktops and my laptop. I recommend it 100%. And you can use this for MAC or PC. So go for it. It's the fasted USB 3.0 device ever, and will continue to be until they have USB 4.0.

My Western Digital 3 T bit external tower hard drive crapped out in 2 weeks. I was told to buy a top of the line LaCie Porsche P9223 Slim SSD. Its supposed to be built for speed up to 11X faster and super reliable.Comes with 2 year warranty. Warrenty registration online, fast and super painless.Supposed to be super reliable because its solid state, uses the USB port to computer and does not need external from the wall power.Its sleek and non bulky.Problem its only a limited 120GB. My tower was 3 T bit. Huge storage difference.I'm using Carbonite mirror back up as I lost a very expensive Astronomy program. Carbonite and the SS Lacie are doing great do backing up EVERYTHING ...all programs. Problem limited capacity. Carbonite says after one or two mirror backups Lacie will be fill. I will need to get a non SS external tower that has enough capacity.I really did not want to do this but I guess Ill have to. Just wish Lacie would come out with a SS backup device with huge capacity that would also be affordable. Maybe technology will change in a few years. For those who don't need large capacity mirror backup the Lacie Porsche SS 120 GB is the way to go. Until technology changes and prices drop those wanting much larger storage capacity will have to get a less reliable non SS device..

I got my SSD 120GB last week.LOOKS:Very impressed with the finish of the product . compliments my mac very nicely. Has a matte brushed aluminium finish.SPEED:Moved a 11.25 GB movie in 55 secs on a USB 3.0. As compared to my older USB 2.0 HDD which took 9mins 11 secs.. Thats about 10-11 x faster.I calculated a speed of ~200 MB/s. This is not as fast as the stated 400 MB/s but I am not complaining.
