I have this a few days. I bought it with a USB 3.0 PCI card: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008MIMPJQ/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_17 (Syba USB 3.0 3 Port + 1 Internal Port PCI-e 2.0 X 1 Card SY-PEX20135 ). The combo, backing up info from my hard drive (bottleneck) was about 1gb/sec. I have always had good experience with Sony products. The build is solid; feels good. The USB3 cable is about 18 inches though - too short. Amazon had Sony storage as a featured item - I paid $125. Can't beat an Amazon sale!

I have tested this on 4 different devices thus far (just got it today, May 17, 2013) a Sony 3D Bluray player, LG 3D Bluray player, Windows XP SP3 (USB 2.0) and BoxeeBox (older version with the cube like shape) With Boxee+ Software installed. I did not change the format with the FAT32 Formatter so all tests where done with the 1TB Hard Drive in NTFS.I was surprised that the "Transfer accelerator" Actually did speed things up a little bit, here are my results using a stop watch transferring the same file, (then deleting it) from the same source, to the external 1TB Sony Hard Drivehere are the results:-- Test was ran from an IDE Hard Drive via a USB 2.0 Port --transfer time with the speed booster: for a 6,869,935 KB file: 2m:41stransfer time without the speed booster: for a 6,869,935 KB file: 3m:59sFile type: .mkvDisk format: NTFSOS: Windows XP w/ Service Pack 3Computer USB Port: 2.0** Note that most newer computers will most likely have SATA Hard Drives so your speed may be faster for writing to the external Hard Drive if you have an SATA Hard Drive.So far very happy with this hard drive as it is working on all my devices! (none of which are USB 3.0)will update if things change.. only first day of use.
