The Store 'n' Go SuperSpeed USB 3.0/FW800 Portable Hard Drive provides a fast, safe, and portable solution for Mac users to save and back-up their most important data. This HFS+ drive is formatted specifically for compatibility with Mac operating systems; and possess two interfaces—Firewire 800 and SuperSpeed USB 3.0 for dazzling transfer speeds with a super-cool look. The drive's USB 3.0 connection offers expanded functionality, as it is backwardly compatible with USB 2.0 ports. Also included are Verbatim's Green Button energy-saving software and Formatter hard drive formatting software.

Blazing fast (USB 3.0). Compact and silent. I've used this drive for two months in TM backup. I know it's in use only if I happen to see its low-power LED flickering. (I checked the drive and it IS backing me up.) This is a great combination drive if you need to move between (or from) FireWire 400 or 800 on one Mac and another one with USB 3.0 but lacking FireWire. It comes with cables for USB 3.0. a USB 2.0 cable for drawing power only (if you need more), and FireWire 800. Installation was easy, once I got the right cable converter to connect to my FireWire 400 (CiTi - FireWire Gold 800 to 400 9 to 6 pin Cable (9pin 6pin) 6FT , IEEE-1394B Firewire 800 9-pin/6-pin Cable 6 FEET GOLD PLATED TIP). Oddly, the User Guide (printed and on-disk) with my Store'n'Go is European, with service contact numbers only for England, Latvia, etc. (Verbatim does have a responsive U.S. website.)I highly recommend this drive.

Although it's one of the cheaper hard drives- this one works great!Haven't had any problems with it thus far, I think the price is worth the product.

It's not real easy to find an external hard drive with a firewire port, this one has it and works great with my macbook pro made in summer 2010. Transfer speeds are fast. I haven't had it long, but no problems.
