Your external disc drive is fully portable in this ruggedly protective case. The drive slides securely underneath the elastic band with its cords organized in the mesh slim pocket. The semi-rigid, ribbed exterior protects your disc drive from the other items in your bag.

I bought this case to enclose the Buffalo Technology MediaStation 8x Portable DVD Writer to keep it clean and dust free and to provide some crush proofness (OK, that's not a word, but neither is swapportunity). The drive fits perfectly into the case, even with the small rubber bumpers I added to the bottom of the drive (see my review of the Buffalo Technology MediaStation 8x Portable DVD Writer with LED Power Indicator DVSM-PC58U2VB (Black)). The case also comes with two DVD sleeves that hold two DVDs each. The case does not have a carrying handle, but I do not consider this to be a problem as I normally pack external drives in my luggage between several shirts, jeans, or whatever else I can find. Bottom line is that it provides the protection I desire for the external optical drive.

Since my external DVD drive that I use for my tablets and laptops would not fit into the cases for them, I was looking for a case that would protect the DVD drive to prevent scratches and damage to the drive. This case works perfectly. Granted, it is a slightly larger than the drive as described in other reviews, but the elastic band on the interior holds the drive snuggly. The opposite side of the case holds software and cables. This is a hard case and completely prevents damage to anything in it. I couldn't be happier with this case and would fully recommend it.
