I got this because of my great experience with the Samsung S2 500gb, but couldn't find a 1TB version.CaseThe case is plastic, and bulges out on top where the nice pattern is. The top patterned piece of plastic bends when pressure is applied. Definitely won't be traveling heavily with this. The S2 had a really solid, beautiful case that I abused on my travels and still holds up after 2 years.SpeedThe drive inside is Seagate, as expected since they bought Samsung's HDD business. I have USB 3 ports on my computer so I expected it to be much faster. It's pretty much the same as my USB 2 S2 drive. Out of curiosity I ran xbench on it and got an average of about 80 mb/s read and write speeds, never going over 120. That doesn't sound like it's 3x faster.I'm considering returning this and getting the equivalent WD My Passport...

Okay - full disclosure: I have no industry ties what so ever. I have owned this drive for 10 months and have loaded it with movies to stream to my pc/laptop/home television. No problems. Love its small size and super-quiet performance. The transfer speed is adequate, though far from blazing. Check out the mfr website for specs if you wish. I was very pleased to get this for a hundred bucks. No complaints! Buy one and see for yourself. Only down-side is that Samsung does not currently offer a 2 TB version like WD does.
