This case works great as a replacememt for the Maxtor OneTouch III external hard drive case that had power problems. It only took about 10 minutes from the time I opened the Amazon box until I had my drive reconnected to the computer and had "recovered" years worth of photos that were otherwise gone.My only beef is that the thumb screws are thumb screws only if you have phillips or 1/4" hex head shaped thumbs. Otherwise, you'll need a phillips screw driver.

In an attempt to retrieve the content from my old IDE drives, I first purchased a SATA to IDE adapter, which didn't function at all. I then realized that I could instead get a USB enclosure, and found this little device.At first as I was a bit scared when the first drive did not show any sign of being recognized on any operating system, but later realized that the drive was dead, because I plugged in a second drive and--after flipping the switch to ON--the drive booted up immediately.I am very pleased with this enclosure. It runs silently (except on boot-up, and still its a minimal sound), and its data speeds are incredible, especially for an IDE drive. It was nice to be able to retrieve my data from six years ago as if the drive hadn't been in storage for that time (in an anti-static bag, mind you). I have since copied all of the content to an external USB hard drive and have formatted the drive with the EXT4 file system and am using it to run a small Apache web server.Simply put, this was an excellent buy, especially for the price.

Very well made product and works as advertised. It was easy to install the IDE drive, even if it is a tight fit. I like the stand that comes with the encloser. Works great and I have not had any problems. Great for putting your old IDE drives to work and using them for backup data. On the other hand, with the expense envolved with buying this product, it may be just as well to buy a flash drive since the prices for large memory sizes are getting cheaper.
