I bought the 2TB Fantom Greendrive3 when my old 1TB external hard drive filled up. The new drive arrived on time. I was a bit surprised to see that it had a small power brick. This definitely was designed as a desktop thing rather than a portable unit.Anyways, my Windows 7 laptop had no trouble detecting the drive. I liked that the drive was basically empty upon arrival. There were two small files on it. I don't remember exactly what they were now, but there wasn't any type of software preloaded on the drive. Formatting went without any problems. I started it, left for my shift at work, came back and it was done. Then I started transferring most of the crap on my old drive onto the new one. The Fantom drive is a USB 3.0 device, but remember if you're trying to transfer to/from a 2.0 device like I was, your speed will be limited to 2.0 speeds.The new Fantom drive lasted throughout the night constantly transferring files without the computer losing it. After that I finally got to test the 3.0 speeds. All in all, I'm pretty impressed. With my old drive I was getting write speeds ~20 MB/s; with the new one I consistently got around 80 MP/s. I've been using it pretty often throughout the past week, and it's been performing very well. It is very quiet, and its power saving features don't have any problems that I can see. It is a bit expensive compared to other 2TB USB 3.0 drives, and I can't compare it to cheaper ones as I've never owned one, but I believe it to be worth the investment. If its performance falters later, I'll update my review, but right now I see it as a very good, very fast external hard drive.

Nice and compact. Comes with cables. Fits easily on a desktop. Very fast download speed. I transferred 250g in just a few hrs. Very pleased with purchase. Would definitely buy again.

I've already written a review for the 1TB Fantom GreenDrive 1TB USB 2.0/eSATA Desktop External Hard Drive GD1000EU, which I've owned for three years (and has even accidentally fallen to the floor a few times!). I purchased this 2TB drive because I needed more space and also wanted something to back up all the important files off my 1TB, just in case it ever decides its days are over. I absolutely love these drives.It's super fast, and it is exceptionally reliable. You don't have to do anything special to turn the Greendrive off (unlike some other external drives), you just hit the power button and you're good. There's no special software needed to use the drive (something I found to be an absolute pain with the WD My Passport 1TB Portable External Hard Drive Storage USB 3.0 Black portable drive I used to have. It also crashed and burned within five weeks of purchase--just in time for the return policy to run out!).It takes about a minute for my drives to be recognized in Windows 7, but no biggy. The thing I cannot stress enough is that, once you get them up and running, they are fast and very reliable. I love both of my Greendrives, and am hesitant to try any other brand now because I have had bad luck with others--but have never had a single issue with either of my Greendrives.
