Protronix EU3 External Enclosure allows you to turn any 3.5" SATA hard drive into a super fast USB 3.0 external hard drive. External hard drives are great for backing up information, moving files, and adding extra storage without opening your computer. They are ideal for storing music, movies, pictures, and all of your media. Equipped with support for the latest in USB technology, this enclosure can transfer data at lightning fast speeds of up to 5Gbps when connected to a USB 3.0 bus. It also has legacy support for previous revisions of USB. Durable aluminum alloy construction provides heat dissipation and a reticulated end cap for ventilation to prevent overheating during extended use. This enclosure is great for use with both magnetic and SSD hard drives.

I have tried two different brands of SATA hard drives, and the connector is too close to the bottom of the enclosure and I can't get the hard drives to connect. Sure I could probably push really hard and MIGHT be able to get it to fit, or break off a connector or two. I really wanted to like this enclosure, but if the drive won't fit, then Amazon shouldn't ship!

I got this drive enclosure as part of a project to setup a Raspberry PI as a small backup server for my household. For that reason, I can only testify for this drive's performance on a USB 2.0 configuration.The enclosure comes apart after removing two screws in the back. Once open, you slide out the middle of it and screw the drive in with the four screws they provide. It took me at most 5 minutes to load a drive into the enclosure and after that I was good to go.The enclosure looks nice and feels sturdy. The aluminum body seems to do a good job as a heat sink for the drive. If I was in the market for another drive enclosure, I would definitely buy another one of these.
